Chris BrooksQueensland’s premier master’s surfers gathered today at Duranbah Beach to contest the first event of the Printpoint Queensland Master’s Surfing Circuit 2008.

Overcast weather and small waves couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the ‘old salts’ of the Queensland surfing scene, and the event got underway in clean glassy conditions.

Ben King Memorial Easter Surfing Classic 2008Now, in its 33rd year ‘the Byron Easter Classic’ is one of Australia’s longest running annual surfing events.
The event has been renamed in honour of Byron Bay Boardriders club president and long time stalwart, Ben King who sadly passed away 2 years ago.
Ben was the driving force and instrumental in Byron Bay Boardriders being inducted into the Australian surfing ‘Hall of Fame’in 2005.
