Mark Richardson got his ratings campaign off to a great start today by taking out the Senior Men’s and over 35’s division in the first event of the Printpoint Queensland Masters Surfing Circuit at Duranbah.

Queensland’s premier master’s surfers gathered today at Duranbah Beach to contest the first event of the Printpoint Queensland Master’s Surfing Circuit 2008.

Overcast weather and small waves couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the ‘old salts’ of the Queensland surfing scene, and the event got underway in clean glassy conditions.

Bethany Hamilton is by anyones standards an amazing person. Having your arm bitten off by a shark would be enough to stop most people from ever entering the ocean again. But Bethany’s strong christian beliefs and incredible will power have given her the resolve to keep surfing and even competing on the WQS.
Bethany is currently in Australia competing on the Womens WQS tour, and she is currently ranked number 2 !!!

Byron Bay surfer Jarrad Sullivan today won the 33rd Byron Easter Classic, only narrowly defeating the form surfer of the event, 2006 Champion, Yerin Brown. Now, in its 33rd year ‘the Byron Easter Classic’ is one of Australia’s longest running annual surfing events.
The event has been renamed in honour of Byron Bay Boardriders club president and long time stalwart, Ben King who sadly passed away 2 years ago.
Ben was the driving force and instrumental in Byron Bay Boardriders being inducted into the Australian surfing ‘Hall of Fame’in 2005.

Mark Visser is a surfer from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland he has contributed to Gold Coast Surf magazine a few times over the years.

He has also made quite a name for himself as a big wave surfer, narrowly missing out on the ‘Biggest Wave’ award at the recent ‘Oakley Big Wave Awards’. The award went to Alex ‘Alfy’Carter for his ride seen at the bottom of this page.

Ever since partnering up with his mate Matty Gye many years ago and getting into the surf video game. They have enjoyed major success, accepting awards several times for their incredible surf footage. And both are now rated amongst the top Surf videographers in the world.

This clip is a beauty , it shows World champion Mick Fanning ripping into a win for his club Kirra Surfriders. The heat also included WCT surfer Jay Thompson from Burleigh and Jock Barnes from LeBa (Lennox Ballina)

On January 3rd at 10.00am, gale force, east south east winds swept the Gold Coast beaches, eroding sand dunes and creating a path of destruction. The sizable swell from the near cyclonic weather, which simultaneously replenished the local Hinze Dam to capacity, made it a field day for ardent surfers.
